Baltimore area braces for hot weather
Thursday Aug 11th, 2016
Baltimore City has issued a Code Red heat advisory that will be in effect Thursday through Saturday.
The National Weather Service has extended a heat advisory to include all of Baltimore and Harford counties until 8 p.m. The heat index could reach around 105 degrees.
City Health Commissioner Dr. Leana Wen said the move was made in advance of an expected heat wave when it will feel as hot as 105 outside when the heat index is taken into effect. The heat index is a measure of air temperature and relative humidity and indicates how hot it feels to individuals outside.
