BALTIMORE - A program that makes it easier for people to get groceries is expanding in Baltimore.
It's called the virtual supermarket and today ShopRite, along with Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, announced it will now cover two additional communities: Perkins Homes and Wayland Village Senior Apartments.
The program increases access in neighborhoods designated as food deserts by providing online ordering and delivery options. This past summer, the virtual supermarket program was re-launched in partnership with ShopRite of Glen Burnie.
The program started in two neighborhoods with pick up sites at Cherry Hill Senior Manor and the Cherry Hill Branch of the Enoch Pratt Free Library.
